Minolta x700 & Ilford XP2 BW Film

Film photography has always interested me. The grain, the colors, the process. For a while I had been researching and looking into film cameras to try it out for myself.

The beginning of Summer 2022 an Aunt had reached out asking if I would be interested in a film camera. I thought wow, what a coincidence. I traveled to Maysville, Ky the following weekend so excited to check it out. We thought the camera was originally my Grandma’s but turns out it was her fathers my Great Grandpa’s. He had bought it new from Sears for $35. How the market has changed…

As I was happy to take it off of their hands, I was even more happy to get it out of the box and cleaned up. Made sure all functions and lenses worked, added a new battery, changed up the light seals and took it out for the first time shortly after.

The Minolta x700 SLR has a special place in my collection because of the functionality and sentimental value.

I now have two film cameras. They are just as fun to experiment with as digital cameras. The anticipation of how the film will develop is what keeps me shooting film.

has been home for quite a while now. It never ceases to amaze me. Evenings downtown sometimes have the most beautiful views. And the Fall season makes them even more special with all the colors.
